Ali finally got his way and South Carolina is ranked.
A lot of shifting in this poll.

Thu 4.30 ESPN Mississippi v South Carolina (+4) - This game reminds me
of Cal v Oregon. Both Cal and Ole Miss are non-traditional top 6 teams
going on the road to open their conference schedule against decent
teams. There could be quite a shake up at the top again this week. Gamecocks QB Stephen Garcia has improved. He had quite a showing
against Georgia two weeks ago and did the job against Florida Atlantic
last week. If he can turn in another halfway decent performance here,
even though the Gamecocks probably aren't good enough to win, it will
go a long way towards getting them back to competing with the elite in
the SEC. Ole Miss hasn't proven a thing yet, and this will be their
2009 debut to the American public. With the kind of hype they are
getting they better win by more than four points, but since I haven't
seen them play yet I'm not putting any money on that.

I want to talk briefly about Notre Dame before breaking down Week Four.

I talk a bit about a Friday game in this edition, but it's still gonna be called thoughts for Saturday.

Hopefully Jeff Tedford doesn't make the same mistake he made last year and he already has those kids on a plane for Minneapolis. As for week three, there are a bunch of solid non-conference games this week between 2-0 teams (Cal v Minnesota to name one). I'm also waiting for Steve-O to make me some money this week in the comments.

This isn't going to be as cool as Panda Watch like on Anchorman, but it's the closest thing we'll have and it's the best we can do.
Throughout the season we'll be adding and subtracting names from our watch list for the Heisman Trophy and we're going to start right now.
As you can see, I am a fan of Dan LeFevour of Central Michigan, one of the countries most underrated players.
So, while Ben gets your TV Guide for Week Three, I'll get this list up and going.
Hopefully it will make for good conversation.
Enjoy...

As I followed that developments in the Georgia Tech v. Clemson game on Thursday night, I sat there scared out of my mind thinking I would have to respect Clemson more than I want to.
But, the Yellowjackets held on after surrendering a huge lead. I am still cautious of the Yellowjackets, and not totally unimpressed by Clemson, but at least my world didn't come crumbling down last night.
Here are things to look forward to for the rest of the weekend...

Welcome to week two. If you join us on the flip you'll find me resisting the urge to make juvenile jokes about sucking and Joe Cox.

It's time to evaluate each conference after this first weekend of action.

USC climbs to No. 2 thanks to the huge BYU win over Oklahoma. Speaking of the Cougars, they jump from No. 21 to No. 12, one spot above the Sooner team they beat.
California looked very impressive, making a seven-spot jump all the way to No. 7. Notre Dame climbs into the poll, and the Lane Kiffin led Volunteers just missed out on jumping in (thanks to me.)
Oregon was punished the way it should have been for being completely lackluster in Boise. They drop from No. 9 all the way out.
Check out the rankings...

The handful of games on Thursday were a great start to the season. Now, the first Saturday is upon us. Here are a few thoughts I have for this weekend.

This will be a weekly Wednesday evening feature. We profile the most interesting matchups that will be on your televisions this weekend. This is the only week Thursday gets its own post due to the number of games (meaning more than the usual one.)We'll be seeing plenty of this from Steve Spurrier all season, but find out why Raleigh won't be so bad on the flip.
