October 2009 Archives
See that #65 throwing the ball? That's Sebastian Valenzuela. This three-star, 6' 2'' 327lb OG was Wazzu's number one commit last year. I know every great team starts with a great O-line, but let's just say Wazzu is a ways from getting there. Not to worry, three-star WR Bobby Ratliff is on the way in 2010. Best of luck to him.On to week nine.
The National Collegiate Athletic
Association is a joke.
Where else can a person receive less
of a punishment for inflicting bodily harm on another than a person who panics
and tells a small lie?
Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant has been
officially suspended for a full year by the NCAA, meaning that if he did decide
to comeback to Stillwater for his senior season, he wouldn't be eligible until
October of 2010.
Not only did the NCAA take away from us the best receiver in College Football for this year...
Let's have a look at the lineup.
It's time now to evaluate the real
Heisman Trophy candidates. I am cutting the list down to people who have a
legitimate shot this year.
Tim Tebow, Florida- Still has a very
high rating, a bunch of rushing yards and touchdowns and plays for the BCS' top
team.
Colt McCoy, Texas- He pretty much
needs to win the National Title at this point. I say he has a shot because the
media loves him.
Case Keenum, Houston- Does 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns make you a candidate? He needs to replicate the first half of his season.
ACC
If nothing else, the ACC is interesting.
You don't know who is going to lay an egg from week to week. This time it was
Wake Forest and North Carolina State. Also, Al Groh is doing that thing again
where Virginia appears to be one of the worst teams in the country, and then
they find a way to win a few and stick their necks into the conference race.
I would be remiss if I didn't give
some love to Georgia Tech. Good win, even though we know Virginia Tech was
overrated.
Clemson 38, Wake Forest 3
Boston College 52, North Carolina
State 20
Virginia 20, Maryland 9
Georgia Tech 28, Virginia Tech 23
Miami 27, Central Florida 7
I never think it's too early to talk
about the National Title picture, and since the BCS standings are all set to
come out in two weeks, let's get a jump on how things look.
Here is what we know for sure: One
of Alabama or Florida will be in the National Title game. Even if one of them
slips up in the regular season, the winner of the SEC title game will get in
and it is more than likely to be one of these two teams.
Just some unsolicited advice for the Oklahoma secondary: Cover this guy!Boise's Wednesday game matters, so we get an early start to week 7.
Georgia v Tennessee at Knoxville didn't make the list this week, but again the odds-makers do us all a favor by making Tennessee the favorite at home against an actually good SEC team. It was a gimme last week with Auburn and it's not different this week with Georgia.
A much better slate of TV games this week. Meanwhile, the folks who run this site may be out of work come Monday.
