Final BCS Breakdown

A week from this time we will know for sure who is playing where, and after Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech's losses, we pretty much do now.

Thanks to a discussion I had with website cohort Ben Malley, he did some research into a certain situation regarding bowl games.
It turns out that a 7-5 team from the WAC would have to be chosen over a 6-6 team from the SEC because it is based on the number of wins, regardless of the conference or the team's schedule.

Week Thirteen TV Guide

The biggest TV weekend of the season with big games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I choose Friday as the best of the bunch.

Also remember to keep a lookout for Oklahoma St. and Oklahoma battling it out Saturday at 9.30am in a game that has immense BCS implications.
What follows is a list of teams that will or may end up getting one of the 10 BCS spots this season and at the very bottom my predictions.

The most important thing to remember is that after the BCS Championship game takes the top two teams and the bowls take the conference champion that they are tied in with. After that all that matters to the bowls selecting at-large teams is who can bring in the most $$ aka fans.
Not too much to talk about as far as changes. Ole Miss makes quite a leap and LSU falls.
Stanford slips a bit after a tough loss to rival Cal.

The third Saturday in November is bittersweet for me, with it being the last of the 9.00am Big Ten matchups that I wake up for only to inevitably fall back asleep on the couch waking up for a minute whenever something loud happens.

Recently, ending the season weeks before everyone else has been beneficial to the Big 10 because the pollsters forget how bad the Big 10 was and end up moving them up every time someone loses. Watch for Ohio State to end the year in the top 5.

I'm sparing you all a picture of Mark Mangino. You're welcome.

The BCS shakeup

The USC loss to Stanford, wait, let me rephrase that... the butt kicking that Stanford laid down on Southern Cal, has shaken up the BCS a little more than it was last week.
Last week, all that needed to happen was for USC to win out and the 10 teams that were to be chosen seemed pretty certain.
But, that isn't the case anymore.
For starters, this is a year that could very well see a three-loss team make a BCS game, and unlike Illinois in 2007, this team might deserve it.
Right now, there are nine teams/spots that look like locks:
Ohio State, Georgia Tech (or the ACC champ), Texas, Cincinnati, Oregon (or the Pac-10 champ), Alabama, Florida, TCU and Boise State.
The next couple weeks will be telling as far as finding the final team.
Stanford makes a big eight-spot leap, and if it were up to me it would have been more. I'm very, very impressed with the Cardinal and don't expect them to lose again.
Meanwhile, USC drops 11 spots. This team could lose another game. Just not that good this year.
Oregon moves back to the top ten and Rutgers, Clemson, Mississippi, Virginia Tech and North Carolina make up a brand new bottom fifth of the poll.

BCS Bowl Projections

The TCU Horned Frogs and the Boise State Broncos should both be very, very pleased about Notre Dame's loss to Navy.

Removing the Irish from the BCS discussion puts both non-BCS conference teams in a position to play in a BCS bowl in January.

It makes me physically nauseas when I watch college football on Saturday and I still have to listen about the Heisman frontrunners being Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen and Mark Ingram.

On that list, the only two players deserving of being finalists are Ingram and McCoy. Ingram is the only one worth even considering to win it. McCoy is having a very good year, completing 73 percent of his passes. His yards (2,447) and touchdowns (17) aren't great, but being undefeated and playing for the most consistent team in the country will make you look better.

Ingram is fifth in the country in rushing (1,168) and is averaging 6.6 per carry. He's legit.

I think the whole Clausen debate can be put to rest after losing to Navy. As Ben put it in an earlier conversation, he's just like a quarterback from Texas Tech in that he throws nearly every down.

TCU climbs to No. 4.

Week Ten TV Guide

The battle for the SEC West comes to a conclusion in Tuscaloosa. Ohio St. tries to keep their Rose Bowl hopes alive on the road in Happy Valley. We see if anyone wants to win the honor of losing to Texas in the Big 12 title game. And USC tries to get back on track.

Let's go to week ten.
There is a new No. 1.
