FIESTA BOWL

No. 3 TCU v. No.5 Boise State: I have talked to a few people that think this is going to be a great matchup and that it's good for college football and all that stuff, but Ben and I couldn't disagree more. When you have a great team, like TCU (or Utah last year, or the 2006 Boise team) you want to see them play the big dogs, like those other two teams did. Boise is very good this year, but TCU is an elite team who could hang with Texas, Florida, Bama, etc...

The Broncos, simply put, cannot this year. Yes, this guarantees a non-BCS conference team will win a BCS game, but it also guarantees one will lose. TCU against Florida and Boise against Cincinnati or Iowa just made so much more sense.

Okay, so on to the game. TCU is going to have too much speed on defense, led by Jerry Hughes on the defensive end. As a team on offense, TCU is just way more talented. The Broncos best chance is for Kellen Moore to be perfect, and he's been close to that many times. However, this will be the fastest defense Moore has probably ever seen.

The Horned Frogs schedule, which included some tough games, looks even better after the Mountain West has gone unbeaten so far in bowl play. Boise did beat Oregon, and the Ducks are certainly good, but a win over them in September doesn't mean the Broncos are elite.

I actually don't think this game will be that close, but I think Chris Peterson will have enough up his sleeve to keep Boise from getting blown out. Look for TCU to be in the driver's seat for most of the game.

Picks

Matt: TCU

Ben: TCU

Thanks for your post. It makes a change to read an article that actually means something connected to football. I've got a similar website myself, so will keep popping back to see what else you've posted.
