Week One TV Guide
Have a great Saturday. I'm putting this picture of Terrelle Pryor here since I won't be seeing any of him tomorrow.
9.00 ESPN Navy v Ohio St. (-22) - If you watch this game its because you are David Robinson or you want to see how the sophomore's passing skills look.
9.00 ESPN2 Minnesota v Syracuse (+6.5) - Syracuse will be as bad as ever, but for some Paulus is an intriguing story. Minnesota needs to go into the Dome and beat the crap out of the Orange by a lot more than 6.5 for me to be convinced they are a bowl team this year.
12.30 NBC Nevada v Notre Dame (-14.5) - Matt's upset special and if I had to pick one mine as well, but I don't see it. Kapaernick and Co. should be a great test of Notre Dame's defense. Tune in just to see if Clausen has progressed at all.
12.30 ABC Georgia v Oklahoma St. (-5.5) - The game of the day. This is the kind of game that with a win, elevates OK State to serious status. In college football the big boys always get you in the end (see Texas Tech 2008), and the Cowboys have the chance out of the gate to prove their preseason ranking legit. Also a great matchup for the "which conference is better" crowd, with seemingly the third best teams in the Big 12 and SEC going at it.
12.40 ESPN Missouri v Illinois (-7) - Not as interesting as its been the last two seasons, with Missouri down so we'll be watching the other two 12.30 games. But I'm interested to see how Illinois and Juice Williams look. This is a team that could finish third in the Big 10 if things go well.
5.00 ABC Alabama v Virginia Tech (+7.5) - Virginia Tech is the Andy Roddick of college football. No doubt they are elite year in and year out, but they just can't crack the top 5 and truly contend. There are probably 110 Division 1A programs that would trade places with them. Alabama isn't one of them. Tyrod Taylor needs to prove he isn't the Hokies' weakness again and how will the inexperienced Alabama QB McElroy look in his debut against a defense we know is top notch?
7.00 ESPN2 Maryland v Cal (-21.5) - This is a revenge game. A mistake-free game from Riley is needed to put Bears fans minds at ease and for me to seriously consider Cal not to disappoint yet again.
7.30 ESPN LSU v Washington (+17.5) - Should be a couple of west coast blowouts. On the Washington side, I'm looking to see if Jake Locker is going to finally do anything, but we won't learn much about LSU's chances of challenging the Alabama's and the Florida's of the SEC in this game.
Sunday 12.30 ESPN Mississippi v Memphis (+17) - I like this game from a betting standpoint. Everyone loves Ole Miss and I'm not doubting them, but I'm doubting the fact that they can beat the shit out of a bowl team on the road who has their senior QB and a running back who ran for 1,200 yards last year returning.
Monday 1.00 ESPN Cincinnati v Rutgers (-5) - A great way to start off the Big East season. Wide open conference. This could be the game that decides the Big East champion or maybe just who is going to be bowl eligible. A note to readers: We're Rutgers/Schiano sympathizers here at the CFP.
Monday 5.00 ESPN Miami v Florida St. (-6) - How many years in a row has this game been boring as hell? At least the last two seasons they haven't both been ranked in the top 20 only for us to find out a few weeks later they both suck.

Ahhh, there is the mention of Pryor. David Robinson will be proud!! Hahaha, that was funny. I will definitely be tuning in to watch Paulus because that is just a cool story I really wonder how he'll do. I think Cal is a good team, but I do not think they will beat Maryland by three touchdowns. Jahvid Best or not.
