Week Two Roundup
Week Two was awesome.
ACC
This conference is still bad. Florida State barely beats Jacksonville State? Maryland goes to overtime with James Madison? I mean, Virginia sucks and needs to fire Al Groh, North Carolina squeaks one out and Boston College still hasn't played anyone.
I would say it was a good bounce back win for Virginia Tech, the Hokies needed to smash someone and a good win for Wake Forest. We're lucky GT held on or this would have been a horrible weekend for the conference.
Georgia Tech 30, Clemson 27
North Carolina 12, Connecticut 10
Wake Forest 24, Stanford 17
Duke 35, Army 19
Virginia Tech 52, Marshall 10
Boston College 34, Kent State 7
TCU 30, Virginia 14
Florida State 19, Jacksonville St. 9
Maryland 38, James Madison 35
North Carolina Sate 65, Murray State 7
BIG 12
Overall, this has to go down as a bad day for the Big 12. Colorado continues to underachieve, Oklahoma State lays an egg at home and Kansas State loses to Louisiana-Lafayette. Texas struggled horribly for a half, and Missouri had to come from behind to beat Bowling Green. Almost all of the top flight teams struggled for part or most of the game.
Toledo 54, Colorado 38
Iowa 35, Iowa State 3
Nebraska 38, Arkansas State 9
Houston 45, Oklahoma State 35
Texas 41, Wyoming 10
Missouri 27, Bowling Green 20
Oklahoma 64, Idaho St. 0
Louisiana-Lafayette 17, Kansas State 15
Texas Tech 55, Rice 10
Kansas 34, UTEP 7
BIG EAST
Ho hum. Pitt, South Florida, Cincinnati and Rutgers didn't play anybody really, and Syracuse and Connecticut looked like poop on offense.
The only semblance of a game was West Virginia beating a solid non-BCS team in East Carolina, exacting revenge from a year ago.
North Carolina 12, Connecticut 10
Penn State 28, Syracuse 7
Pittsburgh 54, Buffalo 27
Rutgers 45, Howard 7
West Virginia 35, East Carolina 20
South Florida 35, Western Kentucky 13
Cincinnati 70, SE Missouri St. 3
BIG TEN
Which was a better game: Michigan v. Notre Dame or Ohio State v. USC? Entertainment wise, it has to be the game in Ann Arbor. For national implications, obviously the game in Columbus. Regardless, it was a dramatic day for a couple of Big Ten elites and for this week the excitement in the conference was back. Other than these two teams, only Iowa handled business the way they should have. Everyone else was either unimpressive in winning or less impressive in losing.
Northwestern 27, Eastern Michigan 24
Indiana 23, Western Michigan 19
Central Michigan 29, Michigan State 27
Penn State 28, Syracuse 7
Wisconsin 34, Fresno State 31
Iowa 35, Iowa State 3
Michigan 38, Notre Dame 34
Minnesota 20, Air Force 13
Illinois 45, Illinois St. 17
USC 18, Ohio State 15
Oregon 38, Purdue 36
PAC-10
A very big win for USC to keep National Title hopes alive. All the pundits were praising Matt Barkley, but that game was won by Joe McKnight. He looks like he's grown up. It was a big win for UCLA, going into Knoxville and topping the Vols, but they lost Kevin Prince for a month due to death-like syndromes. Cal looked great after a slow start, and Oregon and Oregon State held off what would have been disastrous losses. Stanford, couldn't do the same, losing a game it lead for much of.
Wake Forest 24, Stanford 17
Washington 42, Idaho 23
UCLA 19, Tennessee 15
California 59, E. Washington 7
Hawaii 38, Washington State 20
USC 18, Ohio State 15
Arizona 34, Northern Arizona 17
Oregon 38, Purdue 36
Oregon State 23, UNLV 21
SEC
Who knew Georgia and South Carolina would combine to score 78 points!?!? Auburn, LSU and Bama march to 2-0 in games they should have won easily, and did. Tennessee is not quite back yet, losing at home to UCLA. Florida gets no love for playing the Blind Sisters of the Poor or whatever horrible school they played.
Florida 56, Troy 6
UCLA 19, Tennessee 15
Auburn 49, Mississippi State 24
Georgia 41, South Carolina 37
LSU 23, Vanderbilt 9
Alabama 40, Florida International 14
NOTABLE NON-BCS
Another top ranked team goes down at the hands of a team from a non-BCS conference. If I'm Oklahoma (playing Tulsa) or North Carolina (playing East Carolina) I'm treating this game like it's a conference title game. What a huge win for Houston. They are legit and should be treated as such.
BYU rolls, as expected as does Boise State. Fresno State really should have left Madison with a win which would have been big for that program.
Utah continues to be unimpressive and is due to get beat soon.
Houston 45, Oklahoma State 35
BYU 54, Tulane 3
West Virginia 35, East Carolina 20
Southern Miss 26, Central Florida 19
Michigan 38, Notre Dame 34
Navy 32, Louisiana Tech 14
TCU 30, Virginia 14
Minnesota 20, Air Force 14
Utah 24, San Jose State 14
Wisconsin 34, Fresno State 31
Boise State 48, Miami-OH 0

Joe fucking McKnight killed it. Is he of irish descent?
I heart Tate Forcier
I will have to admit that the Pac-10 is looking really good so far and I am hoping the SEC gets a little quarterback play that is better so that I can save a little face.
McKnight was really something against Ohio State I was impressed and I think the country is gonna fall in love with Tate Forcier.
