Week Eight TV Guide

Nothing all that interesting this week. This is one of those taking care of business weeks for the top 10. Will business be taken care of?

Let's have a look at the lineup.
9.00 ESPN Minnesota v Ohio St. (-16.5) - This is even less interesting now that OSU lost last week. You think they are losing twice in a row to bottom half of the conference teams?

9.00 ESPN2 Illinois v Purdue (-11) - If Illinois wasn't so bad this is a classic let down after upset special and I'd take the Illini +11 in a second. Because Illinois is simply horrible, I'm staying away from betting this game, but since I didn't get to see much of Purdue last weekend, I'd like to take a look at that offense which certainly seemed capable both against the Buckeyes and in week two at Eugene.

12.30 Penn St. v Michigan (+4.5) - We're all kind of reassessing exactly where these teams should be in the rankings. Michigan's season has ground to a halt since they've hit conference play. Penn St. has a problem winning at the Big House, but this isn't that Michigan. If the schedule had the Fighting Paterno's coming to Ann Arbor last year they would have won by 30. There's a 60% chance of rain and its 47 degrees. I wish I was there, but I'll be watching from my warm living room.

12.30 ABC Oklahoma v Kansas (+7.5) - Oklahoma probably beats anyone in conference that isn't Texas without Bradford. Kansas' offense is number two in the country. Reesing's already at 2000 yards passing. The loss last week at Colorado takes some of the shine off of this one, but we'll see Reesing looks against a good Oklahoma D.

12.30 NBC Boston College v Notre Dame (-7.5) - BC surprisingly comes into this game 5-2 with a loss at Clemson really being their only slip up. I'm still not expecting much from this ACC Atlantic team. Watch for BC back Montel Harris who has rushed for 756 yards on 134 carries this year. His backup is out with an ankle injury which means he'll probably be relied on even more.

12.30 CBS Tennessee v Alabama (-14.5) - It's a rivalry game and one that I'm staying far away from as far as betting goes. Crompton came out firing against Georgia and looked like a completely different person. I hope we see that again today, as that is the only way this will be competitive.

4.30 ESPN Florida v Mississippi St. (+23) - Why? Florida hasn't put their foot down on any SEC team yet and that will change here. TCU and BYU is on at this exact time on some channel I don't get.

4.30 ESPN2 Auburn v LSU (-7.5) - Take the under, whatever it is. You may be surprised to know that Auburn has the number eight ranked offense in the country but throw that out the window, because this is the SEC. Mack Brown hates this game and is glad that he won't have to watch it as his team is playing a half hour later.

5.00 ABC Texas v Missouri (+13) - Blaine Gabbert's ankle seems to have affected him, but he'll start. It's been the Mizzou defense that has been the problem giving up 19 unanswered points last week and 27 against Nebraska.

5.00 ABC Oregon St. v USC (-21) - ABC goes regional on the 5:00's so we get to pick the blowout we want to see. USC's loss is already accounted for and this is at home, so this won't be interesting.
